What is Ryder up to lately...

Ryder will be 14 months old in a little over a week...sounds so old! :) Here are a few new things he has been up to lately.

  • He is walking now. He's been taking steps since his birthday, but he started taking a lot more steps right after Christmas. Now he is pretty much full blown walking. He is still shaky, but manages to catch himself and balance a lot more now. And, he is walking around the house on his own without us prompting him to walk. He LOVES walking, he always gets a big smile on his face when he makes it where he wanted to go without falling. It's so cute!!!
  • Now that he can walk, he loves holding the broom and helping me sweep, he also loves to stand in front of my legs at the grocery store and help me push the shopping cart
  • He is starting to point at things. A lot of times it seems that he wants us to tell him what he's pointing at. We can also ask him to point to certain things and he will...like tonight I was asking him to point at the bubbles (the ones coming from his little bubble machine) in his bath and he would point to them. And, when I first put him in his bath he looked at me and then pointed to the bubble machine and then looked at me again...guess he was saying, "mom turn it on." :)
  • He called Travis dada...still no mama, but I'm working on it!
  • He's "slapping five" now. In the past I would ask him to "give me five," and he would just hold his hand up and I would have to slap it. Now, I ask him to "give me five," and he likes to slap my hand.
  • He loves to dance! We can turn on music and he will start doing his twist move and sometimes he will throw in his head shake ...it's hysterical!
  • He absolutely LOVES books now. We never thought he would ever be interested in books since he's such a busy boy. We were wrong, we read to him every night. He got a few books from his aunt Amy that he is obsessed with. Especially the Row, Row, Row Your Boat book. Travis and I read that to him at least 10 times each every night. We actually sing it to him and he starts dancing and smiling. It's so much fun!
  • He is having more and more tantrums lately. He can lose it pretty quickly when he doesn't get his way. If he's bored or just not happy where he is, he definitely has no problem letting us know. He's started this scream thing and sometimes that is joined by the throwing of an object. And, he does not like the word "no." So, I guess you could say he's a pretty normal kid!!!

He's growing so fast, sometimes we can't believe all the amazing things he can do. He has got such a great disposition. He is happy and smiling 90% of the time. We are so lucky!!! 2010 is going to be a great year!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!
